Scoopon - Twistto with Drink (Review)
19.8.15Korean fried twist potatoes. They seem to be quite popular in Korea (from what I've seen on Korean TV). They've made their way to various different countries and I've already had them once before from a stall at the Melbourne city Chinese New Year festivities some years ago (I can't remember exactly when). Finally they opened a physical shop in the Melbourne city on the 25th of June this year, at 289 Flinders Lane.
Twistto began selling these vouchers through Scoopon to advertise their new store and being the Scoopon addict that I am (also Groupon/Livingsocial/OurDeal etc), I bought five of the vouchers. Thought $4 for a twistto and a bottle of soft drink was quite good value. But alas, I was wrong (keep reading until the end for the reason).
I stopped by Twistto on the way to Melbourne University (from Flinders Street Station) and found the location very convenient. There were about four other people already in the shop when I arrived, but the whole process of ordering and getting the food was very fast. I was in and out of the place in about five minutes.
The couple who ordered before me chose chilli seasoning with added salt so I thought (reasonably, I think) chilli seasoning alone would not be salty and that's what I chose. Well I was wrong. It was a little salty and in fact tasted exactly like the soup powder in Shin Ramyun! The twistto was huge (even though it's only one potato) and a lot more filling than I had expected. Tasted good but the batter tasted a little too floury (undercooked maybe?).
Twistto is huge! |
Not a bottle |
So my conclusion? The twistto is not bad but I didn't get what I paid for.
